Wow. Teen Janice read a lot of Cosmo. ;^)
No kidding, right? I thoroughly read Cosmo; also the immortal works of Jackie Collins. And from them I learned how to be a tough independent woman who also somehow managed to be completely dependent on men.
I totally read Jackie Collins. After “meeting” her over the phone on Jamie and Danny, I received a personally autographed copy of Lovers and Players. Sadly, the book lasted longer than the radio show.
For 1985, you were definitely ahead of your time. It’s funny, but I had an 8-month-old, had just been talked into marrying her father, and I could EASILY have written this letter to him. Nothing changes much when it comes to love, what we know we’re supposed to feel, how we really feel, and how much we’re willing to let guys know we feel. I adore (as in, want to print, make a collage, and frame) your old-timey, emotion-packed missives in which you explain how someone else really feels…*sigh*
