The Zoo
It is fun at the zoo. I wish I could go there.
Then I could see the animals there.
Sometime I'll go to the zoo.
Then I'd be much happier than I am.

Raquel, belated answer: I wrote it a few months before my fifth birthday.
I also want to explain the four-pronged blob with a window that occurs twice above: It is the old whale’s mouth aquarium from the Central Park Zoo.
This past Christmas, Astin brought his girlfriend Octavia home for the holiday. They’ve been dating now — off-n-on — for six years. They met on their very first day as freshman in college in California. This past summer she moved to the east coast from SF. I adore her and was very excited that she was spending her first Christmas ever with us (she’s a member of the tribe). So, I thought it might be fun to relive all of Astin’s past Christmases by pulling out all the Christmas letters from his childhood and reading them aloud during dessert. As a banner, I also pulled out a couple of his stories from pre-K and kindergarten. Oh, the joy in his embarrassment!
